About this place
Red-vinegar sushi rice is a defining feature of the sushi at Kanda Sushi Hide. One diner who ordered a seafood bowl at lunch recalled the variety of toppings paired with lightly seasoned rice whose vinegar came through clearly. Another impression from diners was that the small pieces of nigiri made it easy to appreciate the balance between rice and topping.
At lunch, the seafood bowl costs 1,100 yen, while the Kanda Lunch and Oedo Lunch are each 1,200 yen. For a few more pieces of nigiri, there is a lunch set for 1,700 yen, and those in the mood for a bowl can consider the Special Bowl at 2,500 yen. One lunchtime account mentioned ordering the seafood bowl and Oedo Lunch: the range of toppings stood out on the bowl, while the Oedo set drew attention for its nine pieces of nigiri. It’s useful to have a choice between a bowl and sushi.
Nigiri is central to the menu, but there are also five-piece assortments tailored to different tastes: silver-skinned fish, shellfish, seared sushi, and a lighter, salt-seasoned selection. A diner who visited in the evening singled out the house-smoked mackerel, enjoying its smoky aroma and savoury depth and noting that it went well with whisky. It’s an option for starting with a small dish rather than going straight to sushi.
The drinks list includes Dewar’s by the single, as well as Hakushu and Yamazaki whiskies. For sake, there is Junmai Ginjo Shimeharitsuru, described on the menu as having a rice-forward flavour and a mellow finish. Pairing the house-smoked mackerel with whisky, or enjoying the red-vinegar nigiri with sake, are two ways to approach an evening here.
